The good part is that aside from a few days here and there I get to spend my days at home with Miss Laney for the next 2 and a half months. I am excited to be only a mom for a bit. Especially because I think Laney is so fun right now. Here are some of my favorite things she does at 13 months:
- She walks backwards. She has a thing with lounging back on the couch until we tickle her. Now she will walk backwards to the couch to start the lounging process.
- Her love for stuffed animals. I have never been in to stuffed animals but I like to see her so into something.
- Her reading. She is getting better about letting us read to her. I can usually get one maybe one and a half books done before she takes the book from me and closes it. Then she takes the book, sits by herself, and reads it on her own. (Yes, she is a little independent.)
- That she likes to turn the bathtub on. Not when she is in the bath, just when she is in the bathroom. She turns the bathtub on and then closes the bathroom door.
- Her love of animals, mainly those that fly. Whenever we go on walks, we have to stop when she points at the birds and watch them.
- That she is finally getting teeth. The second one seems to finally be coming in.
- Her love of her daddy. Yesterday she was looking out the back windows in our family room and she could see Erich working in the garage. She started saying "daddy." She even watched him as he walked into the house and waited for him to come and get her. She definitely knows her dad. (And it makes sense since she spends her mornings with him.)
- That she is the happiest, best kid in the world. I may be bias but I do think she is one of the easiest kids ever born!
Now that school is over, vacation time starts. Laney and I are driving to Vegas tomorrow. We are going to see my brother and his wife and kids. Saturday we will continue on to AZ to stay with grandma and grandpa and visit my sister and her family and another brother. I will try to blog from there. Otherwise, enjoy June.

Congratulations!!!! Vacation! Is summer break as fun for the teachers as it is for the kids...I think so! Your kids are going to miss you so much - you are just that type of teacher! Enjoy visiting family and all the special time with Laney :)
We can't wait to see you. I think the walking backwards is a very advanced skill!
