Happy Father's Day!

I couldn't let today pass without saying happy father's day to a few of my favorite fathers. First, my own dad. My dad always had high expectations for us. I didn't always appreciate it when I was younger but have learned that part of the reason I am who I am today is because of this. It forced me to become a hard worker, self-motivated, and driven to succeed in all areas of my life. My dad was also supportive of all we did. I was a cheerleader throughout junior high and high school. My dad was almost all the football games and basketball games I cheered at. (I am sure he watched the game more than the cheerleaders but that meant a lot because the teams we cheered for weren't all that great!) He came because that I was his daughter and he loved me. My dad is a good man and I love him.

Second, I am grateful for Erich. Most people know about the unconventional family/work set-up that occurs at our house. Because of that, Erich gets to spend a lot of time with our child. He seems to enjoy it and she does as well. Since being back from vacation/camping trips, Laney is determined to catch up on the time she missed with her dad. She follows him around. If he goes into a room and closes the door, she stands by the door, knocks, and waits for Erich to come out. The girl loves her dad. And when we found out that our family would be growing by one and I had a small panic attack, Erich wasn't phased at all. (Must be the fact that he isn't the one who has to go through labor and delivery!) He was genuinely excited to have another kid. And when we found out it was another girl and people worried that Erich was sad to not being getting a son, he was perfectly happy because he thinks girls are fun. (That and he thinks we are going to raise the next Danica Patrick.) Erich is a fabulous father. It makes me love him more all the time.

To all my dad and Erich and all the other dads out there, happy father's day.
