Afternoon Activity of Choice

Today after lunch, I washed Laney off and then let her out of her seat. I put her on the floor to walk around and started to clean up the dishes. I could hear her making all sorts of noises and wondered what she was trying to do. I turned around to see this.

I quickly got her off the chair, secretly hoping that it was a fluke that she could get herself up there. Then I watched her do it again. She stood with big smiles so proud of her accomplishment. And then she really made her mom panic as she moved herself to the very edge of the chair. Thankfully, she just waited there for me to get her down. This continued for a good 15 minutes or so until I could direct her attention to some toys in the other room.
I am not sure whether to be excited at her growth and development or scared to death.

Oh man! Addy will be doing that soon. She has been trying but hasn't quite figured it out yet. Its only a matter of time. Yikes! Laney sure looks cute up there though.

Hi Mandy,

I have been passing through your blog as a link between Courtney's and Amanda's. Laney is adorable. Your whole family is.

Good luck with the climbing. Most likely she will try to step off the edge at some point. Maybe set up something short that she can climb onto and experiment with. Sage had some rough, but not damaging, falls before she learned to be more cautious.

It gets scary, believe me I have a monkey girl for sure. Nancy Jarman told me they had to get rid of their kitchen chairs for a while and used fold up ones that they could put away after dinner because her twins were so crazy. Good luck. Just keep a good eye on her, not on your soduku puzzles! Just kidding. What is soduku, and could I do it without a tutor?

I love kids! Isn't great what they find to do. I was babysitting my niece a little while ago and she was so fascinated with my stairs. I think that we spent at least 45 minutes just walking up an down them and chasing each other!

You don't ever want your kid to get hurt, but sometimes you just wish they would fall so they can get some fear knocked into them, don't you?

Being the mom of a little daredevil is very scary sometimes!
