So it is well known that one of my biggest fears about having Allie was the relationship that her and Allie would have down the road. My sister and I are four years apart and because of that have never had jealousy issues or such to deal with. I honestly can only remember having 2 fights in our life (and maybe I don't remember the first 10 years or so but still.) And I only remember what one of those fights was about. And I can honestly say, she is one of my best friends. I talk to her every day and usually multiple times a day. So in my head, 4 years always seemed like the perfect distance for sisters!
And I am not going to lie, at least once a day, I still fear for my daughter's relationship. When Laney is trying to pull the bottle out of Allie's mouth, sitting on her head, picking her up, or throwing her sippy cup at her in the back of my car, I wonder how they will ever get along. (Luckily, Allie's only remembrance of these events will come from reading this blog!) Yet, lately there have been moments that give me hope. As Allie gets bigger, she is able to sit and stand better. And Laney loves to come and be face to face with her. And as I watch them look into each other's eyes, I have hope that what they see in each other is not just a sister but also a friend. And I try to tell them in those situations how much they will love each other and how being sisters really means that you are best friends. So when I dressed them alike today for church, I couldn't help but take a picture. And I couldn't help but hope that one day down the road they would treasure this picture as much as I do. And I couldn't help but hope that one day they will also treasure their relationship with each other as much as I do with my own sister.

I'm sure they will be bestest friends just like we are.
Mandy, Mandy, Mandy. Stop worrying about things that haven't and probably will not happen! They will be best friends, and they will fight, that's the way it goes, I think they're lucky to be so close, and you won't have any regrets. Do you know sisters that are close in age and hate each other or something?
Laney just gets cuter and cuter! Allie is also a doll! It is evident that Laney loves her sister. Allie will love having Laney so close in age--they can share clothes, shoes, makeup, all that fun stuff!
