Christmas Party
I am the Activities Committee Chair in my ward and am already stressing about our Christmas party. We are scheduled to have a breakfast. I am taking suggestions for food, program ideas, and how to keep everyone under the age of 12 from running around the church. Please help.

When we were in charge, we bought a bunch of sugar cookies and had the kids decorate them, we also had an ornament to decorate that we got from Oriental Trading Company.
I think that Santa is the best thing at the party, it's nice for the parents so they don't have to go do it at the mall, and you know Bro. McK has a costume. Maybe cinnamon rolls for breakfast or like a waffle bar or you know I like breakfast casseroles. I'm sure you'll come up with something great!
You have my sympathies. The Christmas Party in our ward has always been elaborate with a capital E. So, when I was activities chair a couple of years ago, I inherited a huge task. We involved the children in the program, which helped keep them under control. (The primary can always sing a song or two). We also had Santa visit, but he came the half an hour before the party started, so families could be together for the meal and program. And I agree with Nancy, a waffle bar could be really fun.
I did the Christmas party thing last year in Oregon. I don't know if it would work well for a breakfast--- I can email you more details if you're interested. but basically I video taped the primary kids in November, and put together an "out of the mouths of babes"/ nativity type Christmas video for the ward party. It was pretty darn good if I do say so myself. The kids were attentive (they were watching themselves), it brought in the spirit and true reason we celebrate Christmas, all the kids were involved and every family got to take a copy of the DVD home- cheap and timeless gift.
Good luck whatever you decide!
