What do you go by?

I am an Amanda who has always gone by Mandy.  (Unless you count a few of my college classes that had too many students for the teacher to even know I really existed.)  While I like both names, I am a Mandy.  It fits me.  And so I decided that when I had babies of my own, I would name my children what I intended to call them.  So we have Laney and Allie.  Not Delaney or Elaine or Allison.  Just Laney and Allie.

And three years ago I became a mother.  (But who really likes to go by mother?) I was excited to hear mama and then become a mommy.  And I have heard my girls learn to call me mama.  And now they can both call me mommy.  And on occasion, I have heard Laney call me mom.  But recently she has gone back to mama/momma.  And I have decided I like that best.  It's more endearing to me.  It fits me.  I am a mama/momma

And so to however came up with the idea that we should be mother, I don't like it.  You should have stuck with mama/momma.

I'm mom or mommy, but they don't call me mama or mother, I like mommy I guess. I need to call you back, I've been down and out with a sinus infection the last couple of days, I'll call you probably tomorrow.

That's exactly how I named my girls too...no Isabella or Eleanor or anything else. And I am a big fan of mama too, although I'll take mommy over mother any day!

I like Mama better too but alas they call me mommy. I also like Daddy but alas they both call him Josh. What can you do?

I like being mommy rather than mother...it sounds so old fashion. That is why we did Kate and Meg. That is what I was going to call them.

I completely get this as I am an Amanda and not a Mandy. My grandma was a mama to her kids and my mama is well, mama. So I'm with you I'm a mama.
