I grew up in a home where my mother quite often made hot breakfast every morning for us. She took our requests and tried to please us. Even during the 1.5 years we lived with them, she would still quite frequently make breakfasts for my dad, my kids, Erich, and I.
I have tried to do the same for my girls since moving out. Luckily, most days they would prefer a bowl of cereal. And so maybe once a week, I have to make breakfast. This morning at breakfast time Allie brought me a box of cereal. And Laney brought me a box of muffin mix and requested cupcakes. And I was so tired and impatient (courtesy of her getting up at 5:15 for the past week and then waking up Allie unnecessarily most days as well), that I turned her down. And she asked again, and I still turned her down.
And still 9 hours later, I feel like a bad mom. Maybe we should have muffins for dinner.

You should have taken the box of muffin mix to moms today and had her make them. Get over the guilt. You do a lot of great things for your kids - your allowed to be too tired sometimes.
Mand, you really need to break this cycle. By not making the girls a hot breakfast they will not pick up on this habit, and thus they will not suffer from guilty feelings as a mother for not making hot breakfast. Really you're doing them a favor. Plus when you make a hot breakfast a few times a month on the weekend or for dinner it will seem like that much more of a treat.
I think muffins for dinner sounds better than muffins for breakfast anyways. By dinner time you have had the whole day to think about it and could probably work it into your schedule by then. Barring this, follow Courtney's advice.
I love Courtney's comment. Seriously, maybe I will take my muffin mix over to Betsy so we can get some dinner on the table!
Gosh, Nancy is pretty funny too!!!
