7 years ago this month, my youngest brother John was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent a few months of chemo and has been cancer-free ever since. He is one of the lucky ones. He is healthy and has had very few side effects from it.
1 year ago, he married Stephanie. We love her and are glad she is part of the family. She knew John's history and what comes with being a cancer survivor and she married him anyway (that is minor in comparison to his baby of the family/mama's boy issues he also has.) And shortly after getting married it was confirmed that they could not have children courtesy of cancer.
About 1 month ago, an opportunity to adopt was placed before them. And so they quickly began filling out paperwork and getting approved by the state.
On Friday night, sweet Abigail Milly was born. She weighed 7lbs 3oz and was 19.25 inches. She is adorable. Steph was able to witness her birth and John texted details from the waiting room. And we are excited to have this new baby in the family- the 3rd in one month!
And I can't help but be grateful for this sweet baby's birth mom. For her willingness to give this baby to John and Steph. I hope she knows that baby Abigail will be loved and adored by her parents- and grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We feel lucky to have baby Abby in our family. And we admire her strength and her courage and her selfless love.
