California

After I had Laney and Allie, I self-diagnosed myself with post-partum anxiety. I wasn't depressed. Just scared- nervous- anxious. I worried a lot about my mom leaving us and whether I was really capable of being a mom of 1 and a mom of 2. Strangely, I haven't had that issue since the birth of Nixon. In fact, everything has seemed so natural. Recovery has been easier and life as a mom to 3 has not been nearly as crazy as I thought. (Part of me wonders if it is because I live so close to my mom so she didn't come to stay with us. She was just a 2 minute drive.)
So when I figured out that Erich and my mom were both going to be out of town the same week, I decided to drive to San Diego with my kids to stay with Courtney. Not because I was afraid to be alone with the 3 but because I thought my kids would go crazy being home with me all day. (Remember, Erich works from our house so they see him a lot and my mom has been taking the girls swimming for a few hours everyday because all 3 of them think they are part fish. Plus, the kids and I drop by my parents a couple times a week just to hang out)
And though some thought I was crazy to pack up my kids and drive 350 miles by myself with a newborn, I thought nothing of it. I knew there were McDonalds along the way and I knew I had AAA if I really needed help. And so we went. And I am so glad we did. We had a nice, relaxing trip with my sister and her family. My kids loved playing with their cousins. And I loved being with my sister. It didn't matter if we were both on our own laptops, we were still together and still having fun.
We had fabulous breakfasts every morning. (Allie was in heaven.)
We went to the park quite a few times.
The kids swam everyday.
My kids slept past 6 everyday.
I was able to have a few short naps.
Courtney took new pics of my kids for me.
There were scooter rides and fashion shows and princesses.
We had snickerdoodles. (Again, Allie was in heaven.)
My sister did all the cooking and washing of clothes.
We came home with 3 boxes of clothes.
The kids made ice cream in a bag for FHE.
Thanks to the DVR, we were able to enjoy Twitch and Alex's dance on SYTYCD more than once.
And we laughed a lot.
Thanks for having us Court. I am already planning our next trip!

Can you seriously believe how amazing that dance was??? I watched it multiple times too.

Sounds like your sister needs to live next door to you. Can you tell her to work on that?

I wonder why your kids think they are part fish? How wonderful is that to have such an accommodating sister in California! Sounds like y'all had fun. Glad you made the drive. And glad you are so comfortable with your third child.
