June 11, 2010 Nixon and mom are home from the hospital
This is how I want to remember our transition from a family or 4 to a family of 5. And not because today has been a day completely full of smiles and joy. Because it hasn't. There have been tears and tantrums and lost patience and maybe even some yelling. But because these 2 girls are completely smitten with Nixon. They adore him. The want to help feed him and diaper him and hold him. They have tried to introduce him to all of their toys. And at one point Allie was trying to get Laney to play outside with her and she said, "No, I am just watching my baby brother." They asked if he could sleep in their room with them tonight. And I can't tell you how many times they have told me they love him.
So I want to keep this picture fresh in my head. Because I know the next little while might be a little hard. An I am sure I will be close to losing it at times. But I never want any of us to forget the joy that this sweet little boy has brought to us. Or the overwhelming love we all have for him. And the excitement we have felt about finally having him here with us. I want to remember those smiles now and in 20 years. It really is going to be a good transition for us.

A family already! So cute. It's crazy cause when I first saw the picture I thought Alley was Laney, they are growing so fast! And little Nixon looks like he fits right in. Hang in there Mandy Pants!
