Today Erich is 29. (Shh, he tells people he is 26. Funny thing is when he turned 26, he decided to tell people he was 24.) He was able to go racing yesterday for his birthday and we just went to lunch at Happy Sumo to celebrate. He seemed to enjoy that- as did Laney.

I feel lucky to have Erich in my life. It was a little over 5 years ago when we first started dating. It's been a good five years. Sometimes a hard five years. I think when we started dating people thought we were crazy. No one seemed to think we were a match. (Little did they know.) And I am sure people really worried about us during our rocky dating road. And many probably wondered when we actually did get married. But I am glad we went through all of the troubles. I appreciate Erich on a different level because of it. He had to show a lot of patience with me when I had severe commitment issues.

And married life has seemed so much easier that our dating life. Erich is a good husband. He takes care of me, encourages me, laughs at me, supports me, and loves me. And Erich is the best dad. He absolutely adores Laney and has an excellent relationship with her. I think she is pretty lucky to have him as a dad. It's not very often when you find a dad that has changed more messy diapers than the mom! I know that this next little one will be just as lucky. (As soon as Erich realizes that it is possible to love 2 children.) I know I feel blessed to have my family with him.

So happy birthday Erich. I still love you at 29 and am sure I will at 89 as well.
