Here are some of the changes we have experienced:
- we went from 2 kids to 3 including being introduced to boys!
- we are on our third residence this year. we knew the first two were temporary. we plan to be here a little longer.
- our vegetarian daughter suddenly likes meat. at least deli meat and costco orange chicken.
- we no longer own a shave ice business. Hallelujah!
- we both are driving different cars. since I wrecked the integra and we added a child, I now drive an odyssey. and since we don't own trailers, erich downgraded from the truck to some old bmw-think 1995.
- we are learning to adjust to erich traveling for work. i just counted and erich was gone for almost half of this month and august looks the same way! it makes for easy dinners but we miss having him around. especially allie when she is in trouble, that's when she always cries, "i want daddy." this is a major change since erich has worked from home the entire 7 years we have been married.
- and my biggest change is that i have resigned from my job. it looks like after 9 years of teaching at a school, i will be staying home. i am looking to do some work from home but i think i might finally get to be a stay-at-home mom. that being said, it was one of the hardest things i have done. i think because of the small setting, i have developed close relationships with my girls. they were almost like little sisters/daughters to me. i will be sad to not see them on a regular basis but am excited to be home more as well with my own daughters and son.
hopefully the rest of 2010 doesn't have too many big changes. i can handle little ones but we don't need any life-changing ones right now.
edited to add:
one of our bigger changes is that we decided to cancel our cable. while we still watch some shows on the computer, it has done wonders for the girls screen time. i thought i would hate it, but truth be told, it's not that bad.

In my wise old age I've come to the conclusion that change can be very good. When I was young and set in my born-and-raised-in-the-same-cul-de-sac-with-singing-neighbors-ways the thought of change made me cringe. I'm so happy for you that you get to stay at home with your little kiddies but I know you'll miss your girls. What are you doing from home?
Lots of changes for you guys this year! Your girls at school are going to miss you - you are such a great teacher, but that's exciting you are going to stay at home full time.
