Remembering: Summer 2010

While it will still feel like summer for another few months here in Phoenix, summer itself is quickly coming to an end. The local schools start on Monday. The girls will start preschool in a few weeks. And I have started training for my new job as a "virtual" teacher from the comfort of my own home. And there are some things I want to remember from this summer.

Mainly, I want to remember the huge smiles on my girls faces with bubbles coming out of their noses and slightly tinted green hair flowing in the water as they swim to me. It's become one of my favorite scenes everyday. I wish I had a picture of it as their faces show pure joy.

Here are a few other things I want to remember:
Popsicles, the smell of a newborn (even if it is sometimes the smell of spit-up), lots of swimming suits hanging to dry on the shower rod, big bowls of fruit with dinner every night, bottles and diapers, trips to CA, cousins moving closer, baby dolls named Karly and Lulu and Abigail, swimming with Grandma and Colleen (and knowing that saved all of us the first few weeks after Nixon was born), the look on the girls' faces (and mine) when Erich comes home from a business trip, playing make believe, flip flops, monsoon storms, moving and then moving again, Nixon's first smiles, Laney diving to the bottom of the pool, Allie learning to swim all by herself, staying in our pajamas until we put our swimsuits on, playing with cousins, Allie requesting "I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ" EVERY TIME we get in the car and then asking to listen to it again and again, having a newborn sleep on my shoulder, hot breakfast request by #2 almost daily, dress-ups, playing with friends, and listening to my girls giggle together at their made-up words and oth silly antics
I have loved summer 2010. I hope fall is just as good.
